I get it. Because I've been there.
You climb out of bed feeling like you didn't get any sleep. As you stand at your bathroom mirror to get ready for the morning, you look at yourself & wonder where the heck "you" went.
Your healthy, thin, vibrant, energized, fulfilled self... seems to have disappeared.
Instead, there stands a mom staring back at you - who's feeling, well... a little empty. Unfulfilled. Unhealthy. Struggling with her Self-Image & Self-Confidence... Maybe even her Self-Worth, Self-Purpose, & Self-Identity.
Life just seems to be unraveling... You feel lost
Acne & other not so glowy skin issues
Pooey mood (monthly or chronic)
Digestive issues (gas, bloating, IBS)
Hormonal imbalances & PMS
Heartburn / Acid Reflux
Other frustrating chronic health issues
Lost sense of self... Self Worth, Self Confidence, Self Image, Self Identity, Self Purpose.
Then you let out a big sigh, and go put on your size 16 clothes, remembering your college days, when you were in a size 6-8.
And it's time to get your kids up & fix them breakfast. Oh, how you wish you were a better example to them. You know those Pop Tarts & cereal in your pantry aren't the healthiest option, but they're quick, & you really don't know what you even *should* be feeding them. Besides... it says "Whole Grain & Fortified with Vitamin-D", so it must not be too bad. And sometimes you make healthier breakfasts on weekends with pancakes, eggs, & bacon, so you're definitely trying. Sometimes.
You do worry about your kids struggling with their weight as well, maybe now... maybe in the future. And of course, they get sicknesses like all the other kids in town do, and maybe they even struggle with allergies, asthma, or ADD on a regular basis. But it's just normal these days, right? Hopefully meds will help. Or cutting out gluten & milk. Maybe. Just ask the doctor. He'll know.
Now it's time to make your family's lunches. Peanut butter & jelly, or deli-meat sandwich on white or wheat bread, or chicken nuggets, with a bag of chips or crackers, boxed juice, & and a fun treat.
You eat a sandwich yourself... or a Lean Pocket, Healthy Choice, or diet protein shake. Or maybe even "Weight Watchers", because they say counting your points is the key.
Dinner is the typical big ol' bag of "throw it in the pan or microwave" meal from Costco. Or Tyson chicken with Alfredo pasta, or going out to dinner, or... let's just order pizza.
Occasionally you try a "healthy recipe" you found on Pinterest or Facebook. And you substitute sugar for Splenda, & soda pop for DIET soda pop. So that's good!
It's just so confusing, & who knows what's healthy & what's not anymore. So you just do your best. It's not worth putting your heart & soul into, at least right now, because you don't know how, & you don't feel like you have the energy to even worry about it.
Even though you know in your heart, you want to look & feel like the beautiful thin, glowing parents you see walking out of the gym or shopping mall with cute clothes, energy, & smiles on their faces... You wish you knew how, but you don't. Or maybe they're just lucky & have good genes.
But when you're in a moment of really thinking about it, you're perplexed over all the struggles that people you know (maybe your own family members & friends) have, with their own weight & health... Diabetes, allergies, asthma, arthritis, depression, infertility, chronic fatigue, lupus, Chrohn's, cancer, heart attacks, autoimmune disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, and the list goes on........................... Everyone has something. It's just normal.
Here's the truth. It's not normal.
And here's another truth. Where you're at now is not your fault.
But without the right tools to conquer this battle, you're going to continue to suffer, just like 70% of the rest of the U.S. And your children will adapt the same habits - which of course you don't want, because then they'll suffer & pass these things on to their children too. And the cycle will just c.o.n.t.i.n.u.e...
